Keeping Everyone Safe at School during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) Pandemic

Dear Parents, Students and Community Members.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oregon Department of Education has required all schools to develop Operational Blueprints detailing what model for teaching and learning we will use for the 2020-21 school year. These plans are intended to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, families and community and to maximize the opportunity for learning for all students in the midst of a difficult season for our country. Because health officials and epidemiologists continue to study COVID-19 and to learn additional information about how best to reduce infection rates, we anticipate we will be updating and revising this Blueprint throughout the year

Butte Falls Charter School will begin with Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) for the first nine-weeks of school (through November 5, 2020). If the COVID-19 infection rates drop below and remain below the threshold required by the state of Oregon, we will be prepared to resume every-day, on-campus learning for many if not all of our students. That will require an update to our Blueprint, which will allow you to see the plans we have in place for maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment for all students and staff. If the infection rates have not dropped enough to allow us to return to on-campus learning, we will continue with Comprehensive Distance Learning until the rates do meet the state health requirements.

In any case, we will update our Blueprint by October 31 to include our plans, precautions, and protocols for providing on-site learning in the hope students will be allowed to return to our school site at some point during the school year. As always, we remain committed to supporting the success of our students and families in a healthy and safe environment.
